Hormones and our skin...
Hormones and our skin...
I am sure that the majority of our readers can relate to the struggles of having ‘bad’ skin days. Whether it’s Spots, Blackheads, Acne or the entire triple threat all at once - these blemishes can appear on our skin sometimes with no clear explanation... pretty frustrating right🤕? Of course there can be numerous reasons behind your bad skin for example: a change in the weather, a weak immune system or a hormonal change... the list can go on! However, today we have decided to focus on (as you might have guessed it) hormonal and period related skin problems.
Acne is one of the most prominent skin related problems reported during a woman’s menstrual cycle. It has actually been shown that women experience hormonal acne up to 10 days before a woman’s menstrual bleeding begins. The main cause of hormonal acne is an overproduction of oil! Unfortunately a change in hormones, particularly around that time of the month, can largely increase the amount of oil our glands produce and therefore leaves many of us experiencing period-related acne! In teens, hormonal acne tends to occur on the forehead, nose or chin whilst in adults it tends to occur on your cheeks and jawline.
Despite research suggesting that an overproduction of oil is the main cause of period/hormone related acne, it is important to note that we are all unique and individual in our own and special way. Although at BaeBoxx we love to celebrate our unique differences and try our best to encourage these, we realise that such differences can make it difficult to find the best skincare to suit your specific needs. Looking after your skin is one of the most important things that you can do in order to keep it looking fresh and beautiful for longer. Regardless of who you are (boy, girl or non binary) we ALL should take time out of our day to care for the beautiful skin that we have been blessed with. That’s why the BaeBoxx team have worked together to provide you with our Top 5 skincare MUST HAVES!

This is the best product to combat blackheads and to minimise pores - we also think it’s fab for drying up spots! It also includes salicylic acid which is amazing for clearing up problem-skin.
3. Blemish treatment - Clinique anti blemish solution ( RRP £16)
Everyone needs a fast acting blemish treatment to quickly zap away any sudden blemishes overnight. This specific blemish treatment is super strong and works fast! Also, because of its strength we only recommend to use a small amount at one time (meaning it lasts even longer, yay).
